Science B*tches

So it's been a while. I didn't have a computer, and posting via IPad really is just a pain in my ass. But today my amazing sister in law surprised me with a lovely new Macbook! Thank you Bffle, I love you.
Anyway, I'm sorry I've been gone for so long. I appreciate all your kind messages making sure I'm okay, and/or not in a Canadian Prison. I assure you I am okay, I'm just lazy.
So I want to talk about something actually kind of important. I want to talk about vaccinations. I'm not a doctor, or a scientist; but I can research and I have! I promise everything I have to say comes from hours, if not days of research. I'm not blowing glitter up anyone's butthole here.
I know exactly what you're thinking. "This is going to be the most boring post ever, I'll just skip it." That my friends is not the case. Although the topic may seem boring, I will make sure my usual snark is included. Plus you may or may not learn something. *Raising Tater is not responsible if you do not learn anything*
I know that every parent has their choice on how you want to raise your child, and I respect that. However, when your choices could potentially endanger my son, or another kid for that matter I tend to get a little angry. If you don't want to vaccinate your damn kid, please keep them and you as far away from my family as possible.
Now let's talk facts. If you aren't vaccinating your child because Jenny McCarthy (or however you spell her name) says your kid will get autism, I want to slap you with something called science.

The CDC has some amazing information and sources on all the studies done to prove that autism isn't caused by vaccines. They did 9 studies. NINE CDC FUNDED STUDIES, and not a single one proved that there was a link. This is actual science, not Jim Carey funded horse shit. The "study that was done linking autism to vaccines" was found by the BRITISH to be fraudulent. So if you are wearing your tin foil, anti government hat please leave it someone where else, and pay attention
Now I want to talk about the argument of "Why are there more autism cases now?" Let's logically think about this... ( I know that may be hard for some of you anti-vax 'geniuses') In 1943 Leo Kanner diagnosed what we know call autism on patient zero, if you will. Before that a Swiss psychologist used the term autism to describe a set of schizophrenia symptoms. Over the next few decades Autism and schizophrenia were constantly associated with one another. In the 60s and 70s autism was treated with electroshock, LSD, or behavioral changes. That is if it was treated. Most cases went completely undiagnosed. In the 1980's and 1990's autism was treated using behavioral therapy, but still went completely under diagnosed. The issue was we didn't know a lot about this magical 'Autism Spectrum'. We still don't know a lot, but we know more than we did decades ago. Hell we know more now then we did 10 years ago. The spectrum is so large that we are still discovering and learning how to treat this. So when you ask "Why are there more diagnosed cases today?" I want you to think about that really smart, quiet kid that still probably doesn't talk to girls- and ask yourself 'Is he on the spectrum'? Chances are he was. That 'weirdo" probably had undiagnosed autism, and you were a jerk to him/her. Let that syrup sink into your pancakes.
Another thing that bothers me about the anti Vaccine movement (especially with people thinking it leads to autism) is the choice people are making. Why are you not okay with having a child with autism, but you are okay with having a child who could die of the damn measles?? Diseases that we eradicated a long time ago are coming back and killing innocent people. How are you okay with that.
I think vaccines are so incredibly important. I encourage you ALL to do your research, even if you are vaccines. It's good to know the benefits and the risks. If you choose not to vaccinate, please move to a compound far away from the rest of us sane people.
